Are YOU being chosen?
"...Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel..." Zechariah 4:10.
When I was in grade school, I was always one of the final two frumpy kids chosen for our sandlot baseball games. I HATED that experience! In contrast, when I was in high school, I became a very good athlete and was often chosen as Captain. As such, I would choose the dorkiest, least-likely people for my team… not really caring so much if we won or lost as much as wanting everybody to feel wanted… and we often won!
Zerubbabel was a man chosen by God to rebuild the temple. God saw something in this man that could be used for His purposes while the people saw Zerubbabel as a man in whom they could place their trust. "So, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people," (Haggai 1:14).
What does Father see in YOU? His perspective is, after all, the only one that matters. We rarely see ourselves as others see us. To others, you may be the wisest, most calm, best-equipped person they know. Some may even see you as a threat while others would follow you anywhere, if only you'd lead - even if by your Christ-like example. Could it be you are part of the remnant of Workplace Believers God is calling into action for such a time as this?
Wile you're at work, be careful not to allow the routine business of the workplace - or the gossip and politicking that goes on there - to sidetrack you from the importance of God's REAL purpose for opening the door for your employment there in the first place.
I'm not saying you shouldn't give your job the attention it deserves. Nonsense! If we're not earning our money, we're stealing it. No, what I AM saying is be sensitive to the Holy Spirit-led opportunities to speak a word to one who is weary or encourage, comfort, console or pray with/for a coworker, vendor or customer.
One of Satan's strategies is to keep us distracted with the "urgency" of the moment versus the importance of Father's Kingdom agenda. Remember, every day you show up is "Bring your Savior to work Day!"
Is God's business YOUR business? "Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness…," Matthew 6:33 commands us. Ask God what your priorities should be today.
Every blessing,
